چکیده
A route for producing diamond nanocrystals is reported in this paper. Li2CO3 containing carbon nanostructures synthesised in molten LiCl were transformed to nanodiamonds by simple heating at atmospheric pressure, far less severe conditions than conventional processes. The method presented offers the possibility of bulk production.

Hydrogen and carbon monoxide generation from laser-induced graphitized nanodiamonds in water.
Nanodiamonds (ND) were found to generate hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO) from water at a remarkable rate under pulsed laser (532 nm) irradiation. The transformation of diamond structure into graphitic layers takes place to form an onion-like carbon structure. The CO generation suggests the oxidative degradation reaction of graphitic layers, C + H2O → CO + 2H(+) + 2e(-), which produced a ...

Doping of carbon nanoparticles with impurity atoms is central to their application. However, doping has proven elusive for very small carbon nanoparticles because of their limited availability and a lack of fundamental understanding of impurity stability in such nanostructures. Here, we show that isolated diamond nanoparticles as small as 1.6 nm, comprising only ∼400 carbon atoms, are capable o...
متن کاملSelf-sustained carbon monoxide oxidation oscillations on size-selected platinum nanoparticles at atmospheric pressure.
High-quality mass spectrometry data of the oscillatory behavior of CO oxidation on SiO(2) supported Pt-nanoparticles at atmospheric pressure have been acquired as a function of pressure, coverage, gas composition and nanoparticle size. The oscillations are self-sustained for several days at constant temperature, pressure and CO/O(2) ratio. The frequency of the oscillations is very well defined ...
متن کاملAre diamond nanoparticles cytotoxic?
Finely divided carbon particles, including charcoal, lampblack, and diamond particles, have been used for ornamental and official tattoos since ancient times. With the recent development in nanoscience and nanotechnology, carbon-based nanomaterials (e.g., fullerenes, nanotubes, nanodiamonds) attract a great deal of interest. Owing to their low chemical reactivity and unique physical properties,...
متن کاملMixed matrix membranes prepared from high impact polystyrene with dispersed TiO2 nanoparticles for gas separation
The current study presents synthesis and characterization of high impact polystyrene - TiO2 nanoparticles mixed matrix membranes for separation of carbon dioxide from nitrogen. The solution-casting method was used for preparation of membranes. The nano mixed matrix membranes were characterized using scanning electron microscopy to ensure the suitable dispersion of nano particles in high impact ...
